Biological Industries Ltd is a group of companies owned by Kibbutz Beit Haemek, which founded them in the 1970s with the aim of developing cutting edge agricultural industries.

Biological Industries–Nurseries employs some 30 people and is engaged in the following fields:

- Plant production and tissue culture laboratory services

- Plant cleaning and maintaining plant banks in accordance with stringent phytosanitary regulations

- Production and breeding of Gypsophila varieties and their marketing in Israel and abroad

- Production of nuclear and mother stock Pelargonium plants and their supply in Israel and abroad

- Production of Banana plants

- Research, development and breeding of flower varieties and decorative branches

Pelargonium

Biological Industries–Nurseries is an important and vital link in the chain of exporting Pelargonium cuttings from Israel. We supply mother stock that has undergone meristem cleaning in our laboratories to commercial growers who export the cuttings worldwide. Some of the mother stock (elite) cuttings are supplied directly to clients abroad. There is no other Israeli laboratory engaged in this field.

Gypsophila

Biological Industries–Nurseries produces and breeds superior quality Gypsophila plants for growers in Israel and abroad. We market to numerous countries including Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Japan, Spain, Portugal, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, etc. Our nursery breeds its own exclusive varieties that have gained great market success.

Bananas

We produce and grow top quality 'Gran Nain' banana plants. The process begins in the laboratory with the selection of mother plants that are proven high yielders of superior quality fruit.

The Laboratory

The laboratory cleans and renews plants, holds genetic banks of specific varieties, and propagates plants. The laboratory maintains the highest world standards of hygiene and sanitation.

Breeding and R & D

We conduct follow-up of our own breeding varieties and those we bring into Israel. We breed Gypsophila, Anigozanthos and Hypericum varieties, etc. In addition we acclimatize various plants to Israeli growing conditions.

Biological Industries–Nurseries represents the Japanese Kaneko Seeds Company Ltd, both in Israel and other selected countries, for its Limonium, Delphinium & Lisianthus varieties.
